Workplace Standard and Workplace Premium are types of Workplace communities. Differences between the communities include:

  • Product Features: Workplace Standard has all the features you can expect from Workplace such as News Feed, groups, chat and live video. In addition to these features, Workplace Premium has administrative features including analytics, a Company Dashboard and integration with identity providers.
  • Content Moderation: For Workplace Standard, Facebook's Community Standards apply. For Workplace Premium, content is reviewed by your community admins.
  • Account Creation and Account Deletion: On Workplace Standard, you're responsible for creating and deleting your own account. On Workplace Premium, community admins can provision and delete accounts directly.
  • Data Ownership: For Workplace Standard, Facebook is the data controller, but employees own the content they post and share, and Facebook's Community Standards apply. For Workplace Premium, there's a community admin that manages the community and the company owns and controls the data. The community admin can modify, delete or export your data at any time.
  • Post Visibility: In Workplace Standard communities, the content you post is visible only to you, people in the groups you post in or people outside of the groups you post in, if the group is an open group. In Workplace Premium communities, in addition to the above, community admins can also see any data that you post, even in secret groups.

Your Account

When you share something from your Workplace account, you can share it to a group or to your Timeline. When you share something to a group, your post may show up on your Timeline, depending on the privacy settings of the group.

If you share something with everyone at your company, anyone with a Workplace account at your company can see it. Nothing you share on Workplace is visible to people outside of your company.

If your company is using Workplace Premium, the admins who manage Workplace at the company can access anything you share from your Workplace account, just as they might access your work emails and other work files.

Additionally, for example, you shouldn't tag too many people too frequently on notes, as that may be considered spam.

Limits such as these are based on different factors, like speed and quantity, but we can't provide additional details on the rate limits that are enforced.

You can improve the security of your Workplace account by getting an alert when someone tries logging in from a device or web browser we don't recognize. These alerts will tell you which device the person tried logging in from and where it's located.

To get alerts about unrecognized logins:

  1. Go to your Security and Login Settings by clicking in the top-right corner of Workplace and selecting Settings then Security.
  2. Go to Get alerts about unrecognized logins and click Edit.
  3. Choose where you want to receive your alerts, such as from your email account or with a Workplace notification from a recognized device.
  4. Click Save Changes.

After you start getting alerts about unrecognized logins:

  • When you receive a login alert, you can tell us if you recognize the login activity by clicking or tapping This was me.
  • If you don't recognize the login activity, click or tap This wasn't me and we'll help you reset your password and secure your account.
  • You can save a device or browser to your list of trusted browsers or recognized devices. This way, you won't get alerts about the computer or mobile device you usually use to log into Workplace. Don't choose this option if you're using a public computer (such as one in a library or cafe).
